The week of March 18-24, 2013, is Founders/Homecoming week at Jarvis Christian College. The week has been event filled. The full schedule is posted at www.Jarvis.edu.
On March 19, accomplished Journalist George E. Curry delivered the Convocation speech to Jarvis Students.
On March 20, Jarvis held a Career & Graduate School Fair with 40 vendors and a large number of professionally dressed and prepared college students there for them to meet and talk with.
Today, March 21, will be a J. N. Ervin Lecture. The lecture commemorates Jarvis’s founders. Dr. Doug Skinner, a former Jarvis Board member and recipient of an Honorary degree from Jarvis will deliver the speech, “The Idea of a Christian College.”
Friday, March 22, the College will host a Comedy Show and a concert for Jarvis students and students from nearby colleges. The event will feature Artist Roscoe Dash and Comedians Ali Siddiq and Michael Colyar.
Saturday, March 23, at 9 AM, Jarvis will begin the President’s Inaugural Scholarship 5K Run/Walk, an event that promotes movement as a way to combat obesity. Participation is expected from a large number of families and individuals from the community.
East Texas Natural History Museum on the Jarvis Campus will have an open house from 8 AM to 5 PM. The museum is currently featuring an art exhibit. The artist/photographer will be on hand to discuss his work. This event is free.
