The Tom Joyner Foundation is looking for the next Romare Bearden and Elizabeth Catlett. It’s time to apply to become a Tom Joyner Foundation Fine Arts Scholar.
The TJF Fine Arts Scholarship Program will provide four (4) deserving students from four (4) HBCUs a $500.00 scholarship from the Foundation. The program is funded with money from a portion of the proceeds from the art sales on the 2015 Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage.
Full-time students in good academic standing at HBCUs who are majoring in art, fine arts (which includes music, theater, and dance), or art education are eligible to apply. Funds will be awarded for the 2016 spring semester. Applications may be submitted today. Deadline is Jan. 30. Get started by completing the application below.
Students who are visual arts majors must submit a link to a sample of one piece of their artwork or photography, including the name of the piece, the inspiration behind the work and if a painting or sketch, the medium.
“HBCUs have always been a haven for minority artists for decades and have been part of all of our 14 Fantastic Voyages,” said Tom Joyner, founder and chairman of the Tom Joyner Foundation. “This new scholarship program is investing in the next great African-American artist.”
