This summer, the DC Metro HBCU Alumni Alliance will kick-off its first annual HBCU 5KRun/2KWalk targeting alumni, family and friends in support of health awareness and scholarship. An estimated 2,000+ participants will come together to raise funds to benefit high school students in the Washington, DC metro area who choose to attend a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Race Day Registration: 6:30am-7:30am
Race Start Time: 8:00am
Award Ceremony: 9:30am in front of Blackburn Student Center
Post Race Activities: 10:00am in the Blackburn Student Center
Healthcare Fair – There will be a free healthcare fair in the Blackburn Center. To increase the emphasis of good health, we are partnering with local doctors, nutritionists, fitness professionals, holistic medical practitioners, foods experts and more to host our very first Health Fair in conjunction with the 5K Run/2K Walk. Registrants will receive blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and body mass screenings at no charge during the event as well as obtain other information and resources about health conditions.
College Fair – HBCU Alumni chapters will also conduct a College Fair after the race to provide information to high school students about each of the respective colleges and universities they proudly represent. Students will have the opportunity to receive applications and scholarship information as well as ask questions to assist in making college selection decisions. Also, staff from the Department of Education will be on hand to assist parents and students with financial information.
