Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine names Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond among 25 Leading Women in Education
WILBERFORCE, OH (March 1, 2013) – The Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine announced the selection of Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond, president of Central State University as one of 25 women nationwide who will be profiled in its second annual Women’s History Month edition. The March 14th issue will recognize the contributions of Dr. Jackson-Hammond throughout her career and in particular as the first woman president in the university’s 126-year history.

Dr. Jackson-Hammond was named the eighth president of Central State University on July 1, 2012. A native of Monroe, Louisiana, Dr. Jackson-Hammond received a doctorate degree in education from Grambling State University in dual cognate areas: Curriculum and Instruction and Student Personnel Services; an Education Specialist degree in Counseling Education from the University of Louisiana-Monroe; a master’s degree in Communications from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and a bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University. She is a
graduate of the Harvard University Summer Institute for Educational Management, the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Millennium Leadership Institute, and a Fellow of the Nissan and the National Association for Equal Opportunity Leadership Institute for Academic Deans.
