DALLAS, TX., December 3, 2013 – Allstate and the Tom Joyner Foundation have exceeded its goal of raising $150,000 in scholarship funds to support students attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) as part of the fifth annual Allstate Quotes for Education program.
For participants who received an insurance quote from a participating Allstate agent and mentioned Quotes for Education between August 1 and Nov. 30 of this year, $10 will be donated to the Tom Joyner Foundation with a donation cap of $150,000. The funds will be earmarked for general scholarship funds to assist students attending HBCUs.
Participants were also encouraged to vote for the HBCU of their choice to receive an additional donation of $50,000 for scholarships. The votes are currently being calculated and the winning HBCU will be announced on December 31, 2013. Last year, Lincoln University of Missouri won the inaugural competition and distributed scholarship funds to 25 students.
The Tom Joyner Foundation would like to thank students, alumni and supporters from across the country who participated in the program. The efforts contribute to the continuation of Keeping Scholars in School.
