The Tom Joyner Foundation’s Veterans Education Program is a comprehensive initiative that provides support services for America’s veterans. In partnerships with specific Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) around the country, the program is designed to help veterans succeed academically, and make a comfortable transition back to their homes, their families and communities.
The goals of the program are:
To increase male and female enrollment of veterans in college
To achieve satisfactory completion rate for veteran students
To assist in the successful transition of veteran students from college to the work place.
Our comprehensive program combines support in the following areas:
Education – veterans transition course, veterans only courses, experiential learning credit (if applicable), distance learning courses
Counseling – coordination with VA, local mental health organizations and/or college mental health services to ensure that veterans have access to quality mental health services to aid in their transition home (PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc)
