With Hope, There is Possibility: Meet Tony Lucas, College Pathways Student

With hope, there is possibility. This is what College Pathways student, Tony Lucas, embodies. The Huston-Tillotson chemistry major is devoted to achieving all that he sets his mind to. Read about Tony’s future plans below, in his own words.

Academic Institution: Houston-Tillotson University
Declared Major: Chemistry
Hometown: Eagle Pass, Texas

I come from Eagle Pass, a border town down south where there is no hope. Coming to Gary Job Corps helped me find a sense of hope by allowing me to pursue my career and educational goals. I am a current Huston-Tillotson student through the Tom Joyner Job Corps College Pathways program, and am studying chemistry as my major.

My goal is to understand the world around me in an intimate way. I have a naturally poetic mind, but I do not want this to be the only reason people perceive me as reasonably intelligent. I am not special. I am not gifted. I just devoted myself to a cause that I felt would bring success and prayed that it would.

Thank you for this opportunity.
