An upgrade for Grambling State athletics

July 9, 2014 by sarterbery

Renovations will take place at Grambling State University for its intramural and natatorium building. The university has received approval to proceed with the $7 million cost of the renovations.

Conditions of the university’s locker rooms and training facilities were brought to national attention when members of the football team boycotted practice and refused to travel to a game against Jackson State University last fall.

Frank G. Pogue, outgoing president of Grambling State University, stated, “I found a lot of good things at Grambling when I first got here in 2009 but the natatorium was not one of them. The place has been an eyesore for years, and students complained about it all the time, and with good reason.”
