Top three HBCUs sending graduates to Peace Corps

Howard University, Spelman College and Norfolk State University rank in the top three of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, respectively, that send the most graduates to volunteer with the Peace Corps.

This year,18 graduates from Howard University are working in the Peace Corps. For Spelman, there are currently 6 graduates serving as volunteers, and currently 5 graduates serving from Norfolk State.

Carrie Hessler-Radelet, acting director of the Peace Corps, stated, “America is a beautiful multicultural country, and we want Peace Corps volunteers to represent the very best of the United States and show the world the rich diversity of the American people.”
