March 29, 2018 by Cherie S. White

Lena Waithe is a writer, producer and actress. She’s best known for her acting role on the Netflix series “Master of None”. She is also the creator of the Showtime series “The Chi”.

Since Lena was a young girl, the Chicago native fed her desire to become a television writer. She carried this desire with her to college at Columbia College Chicago, where she earned a degree in Cinema and Television Arts.

Lena has written extensively in her professional career for several shows including Bones, Nickelodeon’s How to Rock and Dear White People. Lena became the first black woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
