#TJFBHM18: Dr. Joe Dudley Sr., African-American Entrepreneur & North Carolina A&T Alum

Dr. Joe Dudley Sr. is an African-American entrepreneur, humanitarian, inspirational speaker, and author. He is the co-founder and CEO of Dudley Hair Products, a company he ran with his wife, Eunice, from 1967 to 2008.

Dudley started his career by selling Fuller Products door-to-door while still a student at North Carolina A&T University. After meeting Eunice, they decided to launch their own hair products line and sell directly to hair salons.

Under the leadership of Dudley, the company was listed on Black Enterprise Magazine’s Top 100 Black Owned Businesses list, breaking into the top 50. Dudley Cosmetology University was created along with four other schools within the Dudley Beauty School System.

He has received much recognition across the country including the Maya Angelou Tribute to Achievement Award, 2005 Trumpet Award, and induction into The National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame.
