The Louisville Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) will present “Spelman in the Bluegrass”’ on Friday, November 20, 2015 and Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky. The 10th President of Spelman College, Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., will attend the events and speak to the audience.

The Louisville Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College will host a reception “Spelman in the Bluegrass” on Friday, November 20, 2015 at E & S Art Gallery. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. This event will help demonstrate Spelman College’s renewed focus on the arts.
E & S Gallery was named the best gallery in Kentucky for 2015 by American Art Awards.

On Saturday, November 21, 2015 “Spelman in the Bluegrass” will continue with a Bluegrass Awards Brunch at The Galt House Hotel. The brunch will begin at 10am and will feature a presentation by Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., President of Spelman College.
President Campbell has been a leader in education, and the arts. Dr. Campbell’s expertise includes a range of subjects such as African-American art, urban cultural policy issues, and arts in education. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The honorees at the Bluegrass Awards Brunch are Sadiqa N. Reynolds, Esq., who will receive the Trailblazer Award; and Sheron R. Williams, M.D., who will receive the True Blue Award for Excellence.
Sadiqa N. Reynolds is Louisville Urban League’s first female president in the history of the organization. Her Trailblazer Award is a fitting tribute. Reynolds began her position on Oct. 1, 2015.
Spelman alumna Sheron R. Williams, M.D. will receive the True Blue Award for Excellence for her many years of service to the Louisville community, her sustained financial support of Spelman College and for excellence in the field of medicine.
