About Talladega College:
Located in Talladega, Alabama, Talladega college was founded in 1867 by the descendants of the slaves who helped to build its first building, Swayne Hall. Talladega College was the first institution in the state of Alabama to admit qualified persons of any race or ethnic origin.
Home of the Amistad murals painted by the renowned Hale Woodruff. To this day, school tradition says the La Amistad mural embedded on the floor of the library must never be stepped upon. The Dr. William R. Harvey Museum of Art is set to be the new permanent home of the murals. The museum is one of three major construction projects to be completed in 2019. The others include recently opened residence hall and Talladega College’s first-ever student center.
