Striving to Be Better: Laron Williams, Lane College Senior, is Today’s Hercules Scholar

August 17, 2017 by Cherie S. White

Laron Williams

GPA: 3.61
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Major: Physical education
Classification: Senior
Career goal: Personal trainer/player development coach

Congratulations to Laron Williams, a senior at Lane College. After college, Laron plans to pursue a masters in physical education and become a personal trainer and player development coach in professional basketball.

In addition to his studies and balancing jobs throughout his college career, Laron serves in his community at the non-profit organization, Young Life. Young Life is a non-denominational Christian organization that serves young people from all walks of life.

Laron credits his parents, siblings and coaches as the most influential people in his life. He says that his parents “have always guided me in the right direction” while his siblings are his support system.

Laron lives by two mottos that have allowed him to overcome many obstacles and strive to do more and be better:

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me” and “Stay motivated”.
