South Carolina State Student, Kordell Walker Receives $1,500 Hercules Scholarship During TJF Open Month

Major/Classification : Mechanical Engineering Technology /Junior

Kordell Walker, a Junior at South Carolina State University was named the Tom Joyner Foundation “Hercules Scholar ” for this week.

Mr. Walker is originally from Manning, South Carolina  and currently has a 3.6 GPA. He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology at South Carolina State University. He is planning to continue his education in pursue of my master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He is a currently serving as  the 2015-2016 President- at- large of the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANNRS). He is also part of the South Carolina State University Honor’s College.

Kordell says the most influential person in his life  is his  mother,”  because she is the most hardworking and dedicated person I know “.

The motto that he lives : “For God hath not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” This bible verse speaks volumes for when adversity tends to strike we must not let negative thoughts or anxiety overcome us, but have a strong, caring and a peaceful mind to keep us calm through the storm.
