Raymond , Originally from Detroit Receives $1,500 Hercules Scholarship

Student: Raymond McCants

GPA :3.50

Hometown : Detroit, MI

Major/ Class:  Business Management/ Business Marketing / Senior

Raymond, a Senior at the Jackson State University was named the Tom Joyner Foundation “Hercules Scholar ” for this week.

Mr. McCants  is originally from Detroit, Michigan and he currently holds a 3.50 GPA at the Jackson State University.  After earning his degree he plans to attend graduate school to receive his  MBA.  Another one of Raymond’s goals is to  plan to return to Detroit full time to operate the Brightmoor Community Center as its executive director leading the charge for the revitalization of the neighborhood.

On campus he  has served as  a representative for the Business College at Jackson State University , a member of the Society for the Advancement of Management as President, JSU Investment Club as Vice President,  and JSU Accounting Society as Treasure.

The few people who have influenced his life have been both of his parents, his first coach in athletics Al Williams, and mentor Dennis Talbert. The motto he live by is “Stay Humble. Give Back!” #THEEILove
