Paving the Road to Entrepreneurship: Meet Benjamin Parker, Tougaloo Hercules Scholar

Congratulations to this week’s Tougaloo College Hercules Scholarship winner, Benjamin Parker. This future real estate investor plans to work in the corporate world for four years, then create his own LLC with the goal of being able to build up black communities economically throughout the south then across the country by the age of 35.

Benjamin has began his path to entrepreneurship by creating own business, Parker Companies, to get a head start on creating a solid foundation for his future businesses and philanthropic efforts. This scholar is also looking for research internships in the area of black economic development, gentrification and its effects of wealth and income inequality.

He attributes his success to those who influenced him; his grandfathers, Conel Roberson and Jesse Parker, along with Fred Hampton, Malcolm X, Andrew Carnegie and Robert F. Smith.
