Academic Institution: Austin Community College
Declared Major: Sonography
Hometown: San Marcos, Texas

Prior to Job Corps and this program (College Pathways), I never really had anyone to push me or motivate me to go to college. After graduating high school, I worked in a coffee shop for over four years before realizing that I wanted to do more with my life. I was still unsure of what I wanted to go to school for, but I knew that I did not want to be a barista forever. I immediately contacted Gary Job Corps, a trade school in my home town of San Marcos, Texas. I started school right away, and was able gain a few certifications before learning about the College Pathways program.

I currently attend Austin Community College with a two-year scholarship. If it weren’t for this program, I likely would not be in college right now. I look forward to completing school with an Associates of Applied Science degree, and becoming an obstetric sonographer.
