Morris Brown College music major Jody Mayfield created a unique and original production of the school’s alma mater as a parting gift. What began as a graduation course requirement turned into a legacy project complete with stunning drone views overlooking downtown Atlanta from historic Fountain Hall. Current and former Morris Brown College students along with faculty combined to deliver a soul stirring rendition of the school’s alma mater.

Mayfield was moved to action when he realized the college was one of the only local HBCUS without an online production of its alma mater. He wanted others to know where the college had been and where it is heading. The institution is known for its outstanding music legacy which includes being the motivation behind the film “Drumline” that utilized college band staff in its production.

Mayfield graduated Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Morris Brown College’s commencement featuring media icon Tom Joyner as keynote. He was a college dropout who returned to school to earn his degree. He plans to obtain his masters and return to teach so he can aid in the renaissance of Morris Brown College. His vision is to train students utilizing new technology to find careers in Atlanta’s burgeoning music and film industries.
