Morris Brown College Celebrates Juneteenth 2018 With Parade

June 25, 2018 by Cherie S. White

The Juneteenth Parade took place on Sat., June 16th, in Atlanta. It began at historic Morris Brown College. This is the 3rd year MBC has played a vital role in this grand celebration of our African-American ancestors.

It was a beautiful day filled with marvelous floats, high performing bands, festive dancers & steppers. In observance of the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., there was a beautiful float representing this dynamic prophet of change for the Civil Rights Movement in America. Many bands, dancers, bikers clubs, representatives from the Buffalo Soldiers, Tuskegee Airmen, HBCU’s, Fraternities, Sororities participated. WAOK’s radio talk show host Derrick Boazman (MBC Graduate) & singer Angie Stone served as co-Grand Marshals for the Parade. The 3-Day festival culminated with spectacular fireworks in tribute to our ancestors & youth!
