Meet Torey Haynes, Today’s Hercules Scholar From Shaw University

Career Goal: To become a pastoral and create a non-profit which provides leadership and financial aid to his hometown and surrounding communities

After graduation, Torey plans to continue on to graduate school to obtain his Masters in Divinity and Ph.D. at Duke University or Wake Forest University.

Torey is a demonstrated leader at Shaw University, acting as president of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, freshman class representative and current member of the Honors College, Sophomore Class president, and Pre-Alumni Council parliamentarian and chaplain.

Torey, who was adopted by grandparents, says they raised him to “always work hard and to always spread love to all those he met.”  He is also inspired by his mother and father.

He lives by the scripture, Proverbs 21:21: “Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.”
