Howard University College of Medicine makes a difference in Haiti

September 5, 2013 by sarterbery

A team from the Howard University College of Medicine recently spent 10 days in Haiti. Comprised of students, faculty and medical residents, their efforts contributed to the efforts being done to help the island recover from the devasting 2010 earthquake.

Shelly McDonald-Pinkett, associate professor and interim chair of the Department of Medicine at Howard University College of Medicine, stated, “As the field of medicine grows, we continue to learn that we provide better patient care with team-based approaches. Howard University is fortunate to have a full range of health sciences education. This gave us the ability to provide a broad array of health services as we sought to meet the needs of the Haitian people.”
