Congratulations to today’s $1,500 Hercules Scholarship winner, Christopher Blanks. a senior engineering major at University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He has completed several internships with Northrop Grumman and they are holding a software engineer position for him upon graduation.
The Lexington Park, Maryland native has spent his undergraduate time researching a way to create capacitors to store energy more cleanly and efficiently. As part of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program at University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Christopher has completed extensive hours of community service talking to high school students about minorities studying and working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) fields. He has also attending multiple conferences and presented his work. He hopes to attend graduate school and study more in computer engineering.
Christopher’s motto to live by is “Never stop learning.” He says, his mother, who is a 20-year Army veteran, taught him to work hard to achieve his goals.
