Career goal: to work in the computer science field

Congratulations to Reginald Kelley, today’s Hercules Scholarship winner from Elizabeth City State University. Upon graduation, the future computer science professional plans to continue his education by pursuing his masters and doctorate degrees. This desire was born from his involvement with the Center of Remote Sensing Education and Research, a scholarship program that pushes STEM majors towards their post-secondary degrees.

In addition to his academics, Reginald is in ECSU’s Honors Program and volunteers to collect and pass out food for New Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ’s food pantry.

Reginald is heavily influenced by his uncle, Alvin Shaw, and godfather, Randy Saunders, who both taught him about life, hard work, and consistency. He adds, “Mr. Randy made me realize that my intellect will get me further in life than my body ever will.”

Reginald lives by the motto: “Procrastination is your greatest friend and also your worst enemy.”

Help other students like Reginald excel at Elizabeth City State University by making a gift today.
