The State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) was created by legislation in 1993. The first campaign was run in 1994, and raised $2,027,751. Through the efforts and generosity of many state employees since then, the campaign has grown to exceed $8.155 million donated to charitable organizations in 2016. The Texas campaign is one of the largest state employee campaigns in the nation — and it’s still growing!
Official annual campaign dates: September 1 – October 31.
Giving through the SECC is one of the easiest things to do. Each year, more than 55,000 of your fellow state and higher education employees contribute through a payroll deduction or a cash/check gift. In 2015, through the generosity of state and higher education employees, more than $8.485 million was contributed to many charities and federations.
The best and easiest way to give is through Payroll Deduction. You can designate to charities of your choice through the SECC and have your gift deducted from your paycheck. This spreads your giving over a year and increases the impact you can make to those causes you choose to support.
HOW TO GIVE:
Follow these easy steps to give to a charity of your choice:
- Contact your organization’s campaign coordinator in your office. Not sure who that is? Contact management to find out. If no coordinator has been assigned, contact your local campaign manager for assistance.
- Search through your local directory of charities or the online database of all SECC-approved charitable organizations to find a charity to which you would like to give.

- Fill out a pledge form and return the complete form to your campaign coordinator or to your local campaign manager.
