Gaining Strength Through Struggle: Meet Michael McDonald, Today’s Morgan State University Hercules Scholar

Congratulations to Morgan State University sophomore, Michael McDonald, for winning today’s Hercules scholarship. As a curious child who began refurbishing computers at a young age, this computer science major enjoys taking on a challenge in relation to technology and is on track to become a cyber security engineer.

In addition to his classes, Michael is active on campus and holds various positions including, vice president of the Caribbean Student Association, student ambassador,  and resident assistant of his dorm. Michael is also a member of the Clara Adams Honors College and Toastmasters.

The most influential person in Michael’s life is his mother, Vivian McDonald-Simons, who he says “embodies many qualities such as compassion, diligence, innovation and intelligence.”

He lives by this motto by Napoleon Hill: “Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.”
