Future First Grade Teacher Receives $1,500 Hercules Scholarship

[Dallas, TX – May 21st, 2015]

Student: Joseph Baggett

GPA :4.0

Hometown : New Orleans, Louisiana

Major/ Class: Human Development / Senior

Joseph,a senior at the University of the District of Columbia  was named the Tom Joyner Foundation “Hercules Scholar ” for this week.

Mr. Baggett is originally from New Orleans Louisiana  and he currently holds a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in Human Development  at the University of the District of Columbia. After earning his degree at  UDC , he plans to get his Masters in Elementary Education and  give back to the community by becoming an educator with low income schools with at risk students.  In the community Joseph is also the Founder and President of a nonprofit called Information Uplink. This organization provides young men ages 12-18 with skills they need to succeed in life.

The most influential person in Joseph’s life is his father. He mentions that his father taught him by leading by example and never settling. Joseph is also a proud father of 2 teenage boys.

He lives by the quote “To say the sky is the limit, is an understatment ”   #UDC #UDC1851
