Due to the forecast of significant rainfall on Saturday, May 13, Delaware State University is implementing its severe weather plan and will move its Commencement Ceremony inside the Memorial Hall Gymnasium.
Because the gymnasium has less space for graduates, attending family and friends, the May 13 Commencement will be split into three different ceremonies for the graduates of the following colleges:
• 9 a.m. – The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester will be the keynote speaker. The honorary doctorates will be presented during this ceremony.
• 12 noon – The College of Agriculture and Related Sciences, the College of Business. Keynote speaker TBA.
• 3 p.m. – College of Education, Health and Public Policy, the School of Graduate Studies. Keynote speaker TBA.
No tickets will be distributed for the ceremonies being held at the Memorial Hall Gymnasium. If Memorial Hall is fill to capacity, overflow seating will be provided in the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center and the Education & Humanities Theatre. Simulcast broadcasts of the ceremony will be shown in both overflow locations.
Handicapped parking will be available in Lot 1. Regular parking will be available in lots throughout the campus. Attendees are cautioned not to park in the lots of commercial businesses along N. DuPont Highway, as non-customer cars will be towed from those sites.
Commencement ceremony participants should go to the DSU website’s Commencement webpage at https://www.desu.edu/academics/commencement and click on the link for Severe Weather Plan for the revised reporting time schedule and other information.
