Fisk University invites you to join us for the Department of Business Administration’s inaugural Business Week on our historic campus. Business Week provides informative workshops, presented by business leaders from the Greater Nashville community, and networking opportunities for representatives of area businesses, members of the local community, students, and alumni. The activities occurring during Business Week connects Fisk students with alumni and the business community to foster relationships and partnerships.

The Challenges & Opportunities of Starting a Small Business
David Tiller, International Trade Officer, Small Business Administration Dewayne King, Retail Banking Small Business Director, Fifth Third Bank
Mr. King will advise attendees on the acquisition of capital in a tough economic environment. This will include information on establishing a relationship with a small business banker, the differences between a business loan and a line of credit, and discuss underwriting guidelines.
Mr. Tiller will share strategies for accessing government contracts for small and minority owned businesses.

As the economy continues to recover, and our workforce becomes increasingly diversified, how are today’s companies managing their workforce? Fisk University President, Dr. H. James Williams, will moderate a panel comprised of three of Middle Tennessee’s successful business leaders. They will discuss their initiatives and share how they are developing their human capital.
