Driven By Healthy Living, Zachariah Sanders-Featherstone of Shaw University is Today’s Hercules Scholar

June 8, 2017 by Cherie S. White

Zachariah Sanders-Featherstone of Shaw University

Hometown: Durham, NC
GPA: 4.0
Major: Exercise Science
Classification: Junior
Career goal: CPT-Certified Personal Trainer and owner of his own business

Zachariah’s passion for healthy living motivates him in his educational pursuits and in his community, where he mentors young people at the YMCA. Training college athletes is a first step in his path to eventually educate his community on fighting obesity and focusing his future personal training business on the HBCU student.

His spiritual foundation and desire to serve in ministry lead Zachariah to be involved in Intervarsity. He’s also active in the National Society of Leadership and Success and strives to be more active in social organizations and SGA.

Following in  his father’s footsteps, who was a Shaw University graduate, Zachariah transferred to Shaw. His father, who taught him “how to be a man in every aspect”, has had a major influence on his life.

Mottos in life: “Anything is Possible!” and “Don’t be like me. Be Better,” a quote by Zachariah’s father.
