Clark Atlanta University’s nationwide executive search came to an end on June 19th as the Board of Trustees named Dr. George T. French Jr., the fifth president of Clark Atlanta.
Dr. French has served as president of Miles College for more than 14 years. Miles has approximately 1,700 students while Clark Atlanta has 3,485 students. Chair of Clark Atlanta University(CAU)’s Board of Trustees, Gregory Morrison, is confident in French’s transition to CAU.
“While visiting the University, Dr. French received strong support from our campus community and alumni,” Morrison shared in a statement released by the university. “He also was uniformly endorsed by various constituent groups that have worked with him in his capacity as the president of Miles College and selected by unanimous decision by the CAU board.”
Dr. French resigned from his position at Miles College and will assume the position at CAU on September 1, 2019. Chief Operating Officer for CAU, Lucille Mauge, will continue to serve as interim president until Dr. French takes office.
