Former Grambling State University President Dr. Frank Pogue has been named interim president of Cheyney University.
Dr.Pogue took on the role as interim president of Grambling State University in 2009 and became permanent president six months later. He retired in June of this year. Dr. Pogue was selected as interim president by The Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education, due to his extensive experience in education. He brings over 50 years of experience in higher education serving a decade of that in Pennsylvania’s State System Of Education as president Of Edinboro University. Prior to his role at Edinboro University he served in positions at Meharry College, Chicago State University, and Chatham College and has held the position of interim president at four different institutions. Excited about his new position, Dr. Pogue is looking forward to contributing to the many successes of Cheyney University. The staff of Cheyney eagerly await the arrival of Dr. Pogue’s leadership stating “He understands the unique challenges facing Historically Black Colleges and Universities from his recent leadership of Grambling State University. He will provide a strong, steady hand to lead Cheyney during this period of transition and has both the experience and the vision to move the university forward.” Dr. Pogue’s role as interim president begins on November 3rd.
