Dillard University named July’s School of the Month

The Tom Joyner Foundation is recognizing Dillard University in New Orleans, La. as the July 2013 School of the Month.

The foundation, formed by the nationally syndicated radio personality, chose Dillard University as part of its on-going effort to assist these institutions in broadening and strengthening their efforts to raise money to help keep students attending HBCUs.

As one of the Tom Joyner Foundation ‘Schools of the Month’, each school will be promoted by the Tom Joyner Morning Show and receive those funds raised from listeners, alumni and other interested parties that month. The show, aired in 115 markets around the country, reaches nearly eight million listeners every week.

Dillard University is a fully accredited private, historically black university. The University has been committed to providing students with a quality four-year liberal arts education since 1869.

Dillard offers majors in the following colleges: College of General Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Professional Studies and College of Business. Students are prepared for the future by the university’s experienced and respected faculty.

Dillard University’s mission is “to produce graduates who excel, become world leaders, are broadly educated, culturally aware, and concerned with improving the human condition.” Graduates of Dillard are given the fundamental tools to meet the competitive demands of a diverse, global and technologically advanced society.

Graduates of Dillard represent a wide range of highly successful global leaders. Graduates are found in in fields ranging from medicine and law to arts and entertainment.

The Foundation’s ‘Schools of the Month’ for the rest of the year are as follows: August – Savannah State University, Savannah, GA; September – Grambling State University, Grambling, LA; October – North Carolina A&T University, Greensboro, NC; November – Alcorn State University, Lorman, MS.
