Delaware State University Names Three Founding Deans for New Colleges

Dyremple Marsh will serve as the founding dean of the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology. Within in this new college will be the Division of Physical and Computational Sciences. Previously, Dr. Marsh was dean of the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences. Dr. Marsh holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in plant and soil science from Tuskegee University in Alabama. He earned a Ph.D. in horticulture at the University of Minnesota.

Francine Edwards will be dean of the new College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. She is an associate professor of mass communications at the university. Dr. Edwards is a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in organizational communications from Bowie State University in Maryland and a Ph.D. in organizational development and communications from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Marsha Horton will be the founding dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, which will include the department of psychology. Before joining the faculty at Delaware State University in 2013 as interim dean of the College of Education, Health and Public Policy, she was a dean and associate professor at Virginia Union University’s School of Education, Psychology and Interdisciplinary Studies. Dr. Horton has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sweet Briar College in Virginia, and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Illinois
