Congratulations to this week’s Herc Scholar from FVSU!

June 27, 2019 by Athalia Branch

GPA: 3.86
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Major: Visual & Performing Arts
Classification: Sophomore
Career goal: To help the next generation experience life through the arts and realizing another pathway to a higher education.
Motto: “No matter how far we may go in life, we will always have to work hard.”

Congratulations to Fort Valley State University Hercules Scholar, Hugh Taylor. Hugh has been selected as this week’s recipient of the $1,500 scholarship from the Tom Joyner Foundation.

Inspired by his mother and older brother, Hugh plans on showing students another way of learning as he strives to become an educator through the performing and visual arts to the future generation. While at FVSU, Hugh plays the Tuba and is a section leader for the Blue Machine Marching Band. He is involved in Shepherds in the Valley, an organization that helps build awareness of sexual harassment and violence, and a proud member of FVSU chapter of the NAACP.
