FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Cheyney University Community Day Event Set for May 5
May 5 Community Day Features 3K Walk/Run, Philadelphia Phoenix Ultimate Frisbee Football, 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and Family Fun
CHEYNEY PA — April 8, 2013 – Community Day at Cheyney University is planned for Sunday, May 5 from 10 am to 5 pm. Activities are scheduled in the Cope Hall Gymnasium, O’Shields-Stevenson Stadium and adjoining areas. It is a rain or shine event. Many activities are free of charge.
The Day begins with an 8:30 am 3K Walk/Run sponsored by the Cheyney Track Team. Advance registration and tickets through cheyneywolvescom.ticketleap.com or at the gate. Team sponsorships are encouraged.
Spectators will enjoy watching the Ultimate Frisbee Football Game organized by the Philadelphia Phoenix Professional Ultimate Frisbee team at 1 pm at the O’Shields Stadium. Tickets cost $11.95 Adults, $10 children 6 and under and free for senior citizens & Cheyney Students (need current student ID). Tickets can be purchased at cheyneywolvescom.ticketleap.com or at the gate.
A 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament sponsored by the Cheyney Athletics will be held in Cope Hall Gymnasium from 10 AM– 4 PM. Registration costs $30 per team with up to 4 players allowed on each team. Team reservations should be made no later than April 12. Pay online at cheyneywolvescom.ticketleap.com or at the gate or contact Mrs. Whitfield (610) 399-2287 or for cash payment.
Entertainment and educational programs are planned for the whole family including face painting by Cheyney University art students, a moon bounce and petting zoo for children, health fair & health screenings, Art Gallery, ambulance and fire truck demonstrations by the Fame Fire Company of West Chester, Pa. Tours of the University campus will be offered throughout the day, and the Soulful Sounds Marching Band will demonstrate marching and flag techniques and lead a mini band camp for youngsters.
