For Immediate Release

WILBERFORCE, OH – Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor John Carey recently signed Directive 2013-023, approving Central State University’s request to reduce out-of-state tuition surcharge by 80 percent for residents in Marion County, IN.

The waiver reduces the tuition by approximately $3,000 per semester and $6,000 per year for all students coming from Marion County, IN.  Combined with financial aid and numerous scholarship opportunities for talented students, this savings offers students a significant higher education value.

For a family that is Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and Pell Grant eligible (0 EFC), this means they will be able pay tuition, fees, room and board using federal aid.

For high achieving scholars with a 2.8 grade point average or higher,  who are Pell Grant and FSEOG eligible, this means they will also have scholarship support to defray other costs such as books and other college related expenses not paid to the University.

For students with a 3.6 grade point average and 21 ACT or higher who receive our highest scholarship award of $8000 and are Pell and SEOG eligible, this means no loans are needed to cover tuition, fees, room, board or books. Thus, not only is the anxiety of how to pay eliminated; their debt burden remains very low.

Classes begin August 19 and Pirate Week for New First Time students kicks off on Wednesday, August 14.   The Office of Admissions can be reached at 937-376-6348. Students can apply to Central State University online at http://www.centralstate.edu/prospects/index.php.
