(Marshall, Texas)    The A Cappella Choir of Wiley College was honored to perform an afternoon concert at the White House on December 14, 2013.  During its two-hour holiday concert for guests touring the home, the choir performed traditional selections including “Little Lamb” by Washington, D.C. composer Adolphus Hailstork, and “Mary Had a Baby,” arranged by William L. Dawson.

“Singing at the White House was a very special experience for our students,”said Stephen L. Hayes, Director of Chorale Music at Wiley College.  “Our students will always cherish this memory and the great opportunity to connect with the American Spirit.”  This was the choir’s second trip to the nation’s capitol to perform at the White House.  The choir was also honored to perform at the White House in December 2011.

Founded in 1873 in Marshall, Texas, Wiley College is a  private, co-educational institution of higher learning affiliated with the United Methodist church and the United Negro College Fund.
