Bowie State Student Charles Moka Jr. Receives $1,500 Hercules Scholarship

Charles Moka Jr. named this week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar
Charles is a senior majoring in accounting at Bowie State University. He plan to become a certified public accountant working for one of the world’s top five accounting firms. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he plans to pursue a graduate degree in business information systems and cybersecurity.

 

Charles is the president of Bowie State’s chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, a member of the College of Business Student Advisory Council, and a student ambassador for the College of Business.

He is a certified tax preparer through the VITA program and provides free tax prep assistance to local low-income residents through a Bowie State program. He also volunteers at a local homeless shelter.

 

He says that his mother and President Barack Obama are the most influential people in his life.

 

His motto is: “Life is what you make of it. It is the choices that you make that spices it up.”
