Hampton University has three choirs: The University Choir, The University Concert Choir, and The University Gospel Choir.
The University Choir is a major choral unit that provides music for most of the University’s events. The group performs at events like Convocation, Commencement, and Founder’s Days. You can also find them once a month singing for the Memorial Church. They produce a minimum of two major concerts each year.
The University Concert Choir, also known as The Hampton Singers, is the primary touring ensemble. They have toured around the world including parts of Europe and Canada; having performed in symbolic establishments like Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Constitution Hall, and more. This ensemble tours annually during Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, and before Commencement.
The University Gospel Choir, also known as His Chosen Sounds, performs on and off campus. Like the University Choir, you can enjoy their music when visiting the Memorial Church. They produce a minimum of three major concerts each year, and tour weekends.
