Bennett College close to closure due to fundraiser falling short
By Allison Joyner
Bennett College is fighting for its survival. So far, the college, just one of two women-only HBCUs, is more than halfway from raising $5 million thanks to a $500 million donation last week from The Papa John’s Foundation. Without the funds, the college may have to shutdown.
The #StandWithBennett campaign started after the Southern Association of Colleges and School Commission on Colleges voted to rescind its accreditation in December, due to financial struggles and declining enrollment.

To spread the word with its fundraising efforts, Bennett College President spent last Thursday conducting interviews, including The Tom Joyner Morning Show, The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, and Politics Nation with Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC.
People from around the country have expressed their support for the college, purchasing the #StandWithBennett T-shirts to raise awareness and encourage others to donate.
Bennett College is still accepting donations on its website, texting BELLES to 444999 on your smartphone, and through CashApp app under $StandwithBennett. Click on the link below.
