Aspiring Cardiologist Jaquantey Bowens Receives $1,500 Hercules Scholarship

Bowens, a sophomore at the Tennessee State University, was named the Tom Joyner Foundation “Hercules Scholar ” for this week.

Mr. Bowens currently holds a 4.0 GPA at Tennessee State University.   After receiving his degree in Biology (cell and molecular biology) and minor in chemistry, he aspires to attend medical school and become a cardiologist.

On the campus of Tennessee State University, he is the secretary of the Honors Council, corresponding secretary of Psi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and the parliamentarian in the American Medical Student Association of Tennessee State University.

Bowens has also volunteered with March of Dimes Walk, the Nashville Heart Walk, Red Cross, Kids Against Hunger, and St. Vincent Depaul Food Pantry.
