The Clark Atlanta University Panthers are now ranked as one of the best teams in Division II college basketball.
The Panthers, 19-1 and winners of 14 consecutive games, are ranked 21st in the nation, according to this week’s National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Top 25 poll.
CAU, tied for first place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s East Division with a 13-0 conference record, has also been ranked No. 21 in the country in this week’s D2SIDA poll of the nation’s college sports information directors.
It’s the first time that Clark Atlanta has been ranked nationally since the Panthers were ranked 17th in November 2010.
The Panthers are also ranked fourth in the NCAA South Region rankings this week.
“I’m happy and proud of my guys,” said Clark Atlanta Head Coach Darrell Walker. “But I’m just focused on winning the Division II championship.”
The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 3 when they visit Benedict at 4 p.m. CAU continues their road trip on Monday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Claflin. The Panthers return home to L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Thursday, Feb. 8 when they host 7th-ranked Morehouse at 7:30 p.m.
