Rising Sophomore from Spelman College Receives $1,500 Scholarship

Simone,  a Sophomore at the Spelman College was named the Tom Joyner Foundation “Buddy Scholar ” for this week.

Ms. Stinnette  is originally from Austin, Texas and she currently holds a 3.84 GPA at the Spelman College.  After earning her degree she plans to go after her MD and then soon after her PHD in Public Health.  She wants to work with issues regarding health disparities within low socioeconomic communities. Simone will be spending the rest of my summer shadowing a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Emory University.

On campus she  has served in an organization that has gained her interest is PULSE: Programming for a Unique and Lively Spelman Experience. As an organization they are in charge of planning Homecoming and other events throughout the year that bring new experiences to Spelman students. She also serves as a Student Ambassador for Spelman College. In the Atlanta Community she  also  volunteers at KIPP WAYS Primary School where she helped tutor  5th grade students in science.

Her biggest influence and inspiration in her life is her grandmother who was was the stepping-stone for a long line of educators in her family. She lives her life by the scripture Philippians 4:8.
