MVSU Hosts Small Business Development, Access to Capital & Contracting Opportunities Conference

ITTA BENA (June 20, 2013) – Mississippi Valley State University along with the U. S. Small Business Administration will host a ‘Small Business Development & Contracting Opportunities Conference’, June 27, 2013, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the campus of MVSU in the Business Education Building.

The conference will focus on the state of the local economic environment, operational integrity, regulatory compliance, access to capital for small businesses and contracting opportunities. Representatives from the U. S. Small Business Administration, Mississippi Development Authority, Corps of Engineers/ERDC, USDA Forest Service, MDOT, State Bank and Trust, Accion Delta, Planters Bank & Trust, Jackson Municipal Airport Authority, Carothers Construction, MVSU Procurement and others will be present.

“The University continues to move forward by creating partnerships that will diversify our Department of Business Administration’s curriculum, support small businesses and economic development in the Mississippi Delta region,” said MVSU Acting University President Dr. Alfred Rankins, Jr.

The U. S. Small Business Administration and Mississippi Valley State University recently joined in a Strategic Alliance (SBA-MVSU Initiative) with the objective of enhancing small business development within the Mississippi Delta region.

“Quality information is a key element to a successful business. Through the SBA-MVSU Initiative, the conference will provide current and relevant business-related information such as access to capital and contracting opportunities to small businesses ,” said Walter Simms, MVSUs SBA-MVSU Initiative facilitator.
