Congratulations to Fredrick, a senior computer science major at Lane College. With plans to attend graduate school and receive his masters in cyber-security, Fredrick aspires to one day work in the cyber-security unit of the FBI. He believes that  “working for the FBI will give me an abundance of tools, experience and network for me to retire and start my own security business.”

At Lane, Fredrick is a member of the band, which he deeply believes prepared him for real life situations and helped him grow as a man. While in the band, Fredrick says he has been taught discipline and organization. As a result, he was selected as trumpet section leader for two years and became head drum major.

Fredrick is inspired by his late grandfather, Carl Donald McGruder, who instilled in him, wisdom and knowledge.

Fredrick lives by two mottos:

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.”- Maya Angelou

“If you work really hard and are kind, amazing things will happen.” – Conan O’Brien
