DALLAS, June 3, 2016 – Allstate Insurance Company and the Tom Joyner Foundation presented a check for $50,000 to Grambling State University as part of the annual Allstate Quotes for Education program, designed to help raise scholarship funds for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Grambling State University, located in Grambling, LA, earned the top spot in the program’s ‘school pride’ component, where $50,000 was on the line for the HBCU that could garner the most fan votes. Through the use of social media tools, as well as word-of-mouth networking, Grambling successfully engaged alumni, students, staff and supporters who, thanks to their votes, helped the school secure the scholarship donation.

“I’m so proud of my Grambling Tigers” Tom Joyner, founder and chairman of the Tom Joyner Foundation said. “They rallied their students, faculty, alumni and friends to support their cause. Thanks to Allstate for supporting my HBCUs!”

For five years, Allstate and the Tom Joyner Foundation have joined together to engage students, alumni and supporters of HBCUs across the country to raise scholarship funds through the Allstate Quotes for Education program. For every person who received an insurance quote from a participating Allstate agent between August 1 and November 30, 2015, and mentioned “Quotes for Education,” Allstate donated $10.00 a total donation of $200,000. These funds will be donated to the Tom Joyner Foundation and earmarked for general scholarship funds to assist students attending HBCUs. Additionally, for the fourth year of the program, students, alumni, and supporters had a chance to vote online at Allstate.com/HBCU for the HBCU of their choice to receive an additional $50,000 donation for scholarships.

Along with its QFE partnership with the Tom Joyner Foundation, Allstate has been the title-sponsor of the Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion for the past 12 years. Both of these programs are part of Allstate’s year-round commitment to programs that empower the African American community.
