Cornel West to speak at UAPB as Rockefeller Lecturer

The Winthrop Rockefeller Distinguished Lectures Program will be hosted by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and will feature Dr. Cornel West as part of the University’s Fall Convocation Thursday, September 25, 2014. The free, public event will be held at 10:00a.m. in the J.M. Ross auditorium of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Building.

“Dr. West is a distinguished professor and one of the most prominent and prolific public intellectuals of this era,” said UAPB Chancellor Dr. Laurence B. Alexander. “He is widely known and respected for his commitment to social justice.”

The Winthrop Rockefeller Distinguished Lectures program was established in 1972 by friends of Governor Winthrop Rockefeller and assists faculty at the hosting universities and staff at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute in obtaining outstanding visiting lecturers to communicate ideas that stimulate public discussion, intellectual debate and cultural advancement.
