The ASU Student Government Association (SGA) will honor the victims of the Charleston Massacre with a candlelight service at 6 p.m. at the ASU Amphitheater, which is located at the Hardy Student Center (across from the Dunn-Oliver Acadome).

A candle will be lit for each of the nine victims who were killed on June 17, when a gunman opened fire during a prayer meeting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Both ASU President Gwendolyn E. Boyd and Alabama State SGA President Jeremy Crum will be present and speak.
One of the victims was a recent graduate of Allen University, Crum said.

“We ask that the student body of Alabama State University and the public please come out and support the commemoration of the nine lives that were wrongfully taken in Charleston,” said Crum.
