Central State Alumnus Donates $25,000 To Alma Mater

WILBERFORCE: Alumnus James Hill, Jr ’64  stopped by Central State University to donate $25,000 to his alma mater.  The retired managing partner of the Chicago office of Mitchell & Titus and member of Ernst & Young Global Limited has more than 40 years of experience handling an array of financial matters for businesses and individuals. Hill is a certified public accountant in Illinois and other states in the Midwest.

In 1972, Hill founded the assurance and advisory firm, Hill Taylor, LLC in Chicago. After leading his firm successfully for more than 35 years, he joined Mitchell & Titus after it acquired the practice of Hill Taylor in February 2009.  He provided assurance, tax and advisory services for state and local government entities, not-for-profit organizations and commercial businesses.  Hill’s specialty was providing audit and advisory services for employee benefit plans.

Prior to founding Hill Taylor LLC, he was deputy director of the Chicago Economic Development Corp, staff auditor for Alexander Grant & Co. (now Grant Thornton) and cost accountant for Union Carbide in New York.

Hill received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Central State University and a Master of Business Administration in personnel, administration & accounting from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

He serves on the board of directors for the Civic Alliance Consulting, the board of trustees for the Illinois Institute of Technology, and on the board of directors and audit committee of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations.

Hill has been recognized for many business awards including: the National Association of Minority CPA Firms Chairman’s Award; Institute of Internal Auditors Citation; Outstanding Professional Achievement Award from Central State University; and a Distinguished Service Award from the Council for Community Service, among others.
